Board of Directors
Mr Dan Koller is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank Hapoalim (Switzerland) Ltd. He joined Bank Hapoalim B.M. in 1999 and has recently been appointed as Head of International Division. Mr Dan Koller was appointed to the Board of Management of Bank Hapoalim B.M. in 2008, as Chief Risk Officer. Prior to that, he fulfilled several senior positions. Mr Dan Koller holds a BA and a Master's degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Dr. Raphaël Cohen is a clinical professor at Thunderbird University (Phoenix, USA) and the academic director of the Entrepreneurship and Business development specialization of the MBA of the University of Geneva. He has also designed and managed the first course of Entrepreneurship for engineers and scientists in Switzerland at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. He obtained his Ph.D. in Economics in 1982 and is a regular contributor to several business publications. His last book presents a new best practice in acquiring competitive advantages for both established corporations and startups.In addition to his academic activities he is a seasoned entrepreneur, active CEO and business angel. His business ventures include companies active in executive education, tourist attractions, services and software.
Dr. Peter Derendinger is the CEO and partner of ALPHA Associates. Previously he was Member and Delegate of the Swiss Life Private Equity Partners Board of Directors and responsible for the operations of the company from May 2003. Prior to this he was an independent finance and law consultant. After starting his career as an attorney-at-law, Dr. Derendinger held several positions with Credit Suisse. His latest assignment was Chief Financial Officer and Head Corporate Center at Credit Suisse Private Banking. Earlier appointments at Credit Suisse include Managing Director and General Counsel of Credit Suisse Group, and Head of Legal and Tax at Credit Suisse First Boston (Europe) AG. Dr. Derendinger holds a Ph.D. in law from the University of Fribourg and an LL.M. from Northwestern University, Chicago, USA.
Mr. Helmut Gareus joined the Board of Bank Hapoalim (Switzerland) Ltd in December 2011. Mr. Gareus has been a member of the Bank since its establishment in 1975 and acted lately as Chief Financial Officer of Bank Hapoalim (Switzerland) Ltd before he retired in 2011. Mr. Gareus held several other senior executive positions at Bank Hapoalim (Switzerland) Ltd. Mr. Gareus holds a BA in Economics from University of Zurich and a Swiss Certified Expert diploma in Accounting and Controlling.
Mr. Avi Harel is the owner and manager of an Economic and Financial Consulting Company and member of the Board of Directors in various companies. He joined the Board of Directors of Bank Hapoalim (Switzerland) ltd in 2003. In his business career, Mr. Harel was member of the Board of Management and Chief Financial Officer of Bank Hapoalim B.M. In addition, Mr. Harel fulfilled many senior executive positions including Chairman of the Board of Bank Otsar Hahayal, member of the Board of Tel- Aviv Stock Exchange and member of the Board of Ma'alot- Israeli Rating Company. Mr. Avi Harel was also a lecturer at the Department of Economics in Tel- Aviv University. Mr. Harel has a BA in Economics and Statistics and MBA in Economics (Summa Cum Laude) from Tel- Aviv University.
Mr. Erich Kaiser has been a member of the Board of Directors since 1999. From 1993 to 1997 he was Senior Vice President at UBS, responsible for Trading and Sales and Risk Management for French speaking Switzerland in Geneva. From 1983 to 1992 he was Head of Treasury, Foreign Exchange and Money Market at UBS Lausanne and from 1978 to 1982 he was responsible for Asset and Liability Management, Liquidity, Forex and Money Market of UBS Luxemburg SA. He started his career in UBS Zurich and Geneva with different responsibilities in various areas specializing in Foreign Exchange. He also spent two years at Guyerzeller Zurmont Private Bank in Zurich. His education and studies in St. Gallen with the commercial diploma were followed with practical stays at SGKB. Mr. Kaiser is member of the Conseil Communal of the City of Lutry/VD.
Mrs. Anath Levin joined the Board of Bank Hapoalim (Switzerland) Ltd in May 2010. She has recently been appointed as Head of Global Treasury. Mrs. Anath Levin fulfilled at Migdal Insurance and Financial Holdings Ltd. several senior positions including Head of Investment and Credit Division, Chief Investment Officer and CEO of Migdal Financial Services and was an active Director in several group companies (1999 – 2010). Mrs. Anath Levin holds an MBA, specializing in Marketing and Operations Analysis from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
Mr. Moriel Matalon is one of the leading lawyers in Israel in the Corporate, Banking, Commercial and Project Finance/Energy practice areas. He is the Managing Partner of Gornitzky & Co. and the Chairman of the firm's Executive Committee. From 1970 to 1975 he served at the Advocate-General Unit of the Israel Defense Forces, first as a prosecutor, and later as the Deputy Head of the International Law department of the Israel Defense Forces. After completing five years of service, he moved to New York where he worked as an associate at the law firm of Amen, Weissman and Butler in New York City. Mr. Matalon joined Gornitzky & Co. in April 1978, becoming a partner in 1981. Mr. Matalon holds an LL.B. degree and an LL.M. degree from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
